What Is Public Health?

“Public health is the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life, and promoting health through the organized efforts and informed choices of society, organizations, public and private communities, and individuals.”

~ CEA Winslow

The Public Health Need
A Rising Epidemic

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) remain the leading causes of death and disability in the United States. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death — one person dies every 34 seconds.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death, with more than 1.9 million new cases expected each year.

Early-onset colorectal cancer is emerging as a critical public health crisis — now a leading cause of cancer-related death among adults under age 50.

Behind every statistic is a family.  For every patient – everywhere, MADP is working to change these outcomes.

Fight Against Chronic Disease

Pillar 1 | MADP Accelerating Breakthroughs:
Precision Medicine for Cancer Patients

MADP is committed to ensuring that every patient – regardless of geographic location, income, or zip code  – has access to precision medicine testing.

Through partnerships with medical research institutions, life science companies, and investment leaders – we bridge innovation with MADP public health impact.  Together we we expand access to smarter diagnostics and breakthrough treatments that save lives.

Cancer – MADP Public Health Priority

Cancer remains the second leading cause of death in the U.S., exceeded only by heart disease. Each year, over 1.9 million new cancer cases are diagnosed.

Reality → Only 5–10% of cancers are inherited. The majority arise from acquired (somatic) genetic mutations that develop over a person’s lifetime due to environmental exposures, lifestyle factors, or random errors in cell division rather than an inherited genetic mutation present from birth.

Precision Oncology → Precision medicine in cancer care, tailoring treatment to each patient’s unique tumor biomarkers and genetic profile.

MADP Public Health Impact → Ensuring every community has access to precision cancer testing. By understanding the unique genetic profile of each patient’s cancer, doctors can guide more personalized, targeted treatments – leading to better outcomes.

At MADP, we believe where you live should not determine your access to life-saving cancer testing.  We help patients understand their options while working to ensure that tumor biomarker testing is available in every community, giving all patients the opportunity to receive care tailored to their unique cancer.

MADP Circle of Hope – Helping Cancer Patients Navigate the Complex World of Cancer

    • Educating patients on the role of precision medicine in treatment decisions.

Pillar 2 | MADP Supporting Clinicians
Resources for Precision Medicine Prevention

When clinicians are supported, patients benefitand prevention becomes possible for every community.  MADP equips healthcare professionals with resources for precision medicine diagnostics to promote smarter screening, earlier detection, and preventive care.

We deeply value the expertise and dedication of clinicians. In partnership with providers and health systems, MADP works to ensure they have the support and resources needed to deliver the best possible care — advancing early detection and prevention of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).

Clinicians are on the frontlines of the fight against chronic disease. Physicians and hospital systems play a critical role in protecting patients – but they face enormous challenges as clinical demands continue to grow. MADP helps ease this burden.

Chris Huff, MD, FACC, FSVM, RPVI, board-certified cardiologist at OhioHealth Heart and Premier Cardio Health and MADP Alliance for Disease Prevention CEO, Cassandra Isley, MT(ASCP) – discuss how advanced biomarkers like ApoB and Lipoprotein(a) can improve early detection of cardiovascular risk.

Despite recognition by leading cardiology organizations, these tests remain underused in primary care – representing a critical opportunity for smarter screening, precision prevention, and stronger patient–provider partnerships to stay ahead of heart disease.
